Single Hazard Disaster Risk Studies

Single Hazard Disaster Risk Management Studies have been conducted, including landslide (for both Brisbane and Townsville City and the Otago Region of NZ); earthquake (Brisbane City); tsunami and storm tide (three peri-urban villages near Port Vila, Vanuatu); and heatwave (18 local governments covering South-East Queensland). A review of the recovery process following the devastating impact of Tropical Cyclone Nargis on the Ayeyarwady Delta region of Myanmar has also been undertaken for Tripartite Group (the Government of Myanmar, ASEAN and the UN) charged with overseeing the recovery process.

The end result was the identification of a range of structural and non-structural risk treatment strategies, based on the outcomes of the risk analysis and a strategic planning document specific to the ongoing needs of the local authority.
