ERSA’s Senior Auditor, Tim Kirby, has published a paper on Australia’s water security in the NZ Chartered Accountants Journal, July 2011. The article summarises progress being made in the area of water accounting and highlights some of the impacts and opportunities for accountants.
Accountants establishing funds, or with clients wanting
exposure to the primary sector, may find tradeable water products have a place within a mix of investments. Water accounting will
directly impact on the value and return from investments, so we may need to learn to read water accounts.
Anyone wanting to discuss this further please contact Tim Kirby.
